Luminating Life A Mid-Minnesota Women's Center Fundraiser
A community gathering will be held at Northern Pacific Center Luminary Fern on October, 11th at 5:30pm to raise funds so we can continue offering hope and saving lives! As you probably know, domestic violence is an issue that impacts millions…but you probably did not realize 1 in 4 women (that’s more than breast, ovarian and lung cancer combined) and 1 in 7 men in the United States have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. What does that look like for the 91,227 people who consider the Brainerd Lakes Area home? Well, our 24-hour domestic violence shelter provided services to 904 individuals last quarter (April-June 2018) alone. There will be food, drinks, silent auction, and additional activities to raise funds to support this very important cause. Tickets are $50 to purchase your ticket go to Eventbrite.com and search 'Luminating Life' or purchase a ticket at the Women's Center.
Investing in the lives of domestic violence victims benefits the whole community. We could not accomplish our goals without the support, involvement, and enthusiasm of our committed supporters.
If you are interested being a sponsor at our Luminating Life Fundraiser please contact Vicki at (218) 828-1216.
This event is a tribute to survivors and those we've lost due to domestic violence. We will send candles down the Mississippi river for every life lost in the Femicide report 2017-2018 year to date. There will be a candlelight ceremony and community non-violence pledge. The event is held under the Kiwanis park bridge in Brainerd. If you would like to volunteer at the event please contact Deb. C at (218) 828-1216.
